Santa Barbara features hundreds of wedding locations – many historical, some modern; but few have the eclectic and funky, unique charm of the up and coming FunkZone. Featuring wineries, breweries, “it” restaurants, galleries and fun shops, this is an easy stroll over from lower State Street by the railway tracks. Tucked in the FunkZone is Carr Winery, one of our favorite FunkZone locations for private events. Why do we like Carr Winery so much? To name a few items: a warm welcome area with areas to sit and activities for guests; a large open room with flexibility for set-up styles all framed with towering stacked wine barrels. You really feel like you are in a wine “cavern” when hosting an event at Carr. It is romantic and unique.
Kelly and David chose to say their vows at The Santa Barbara Courthouse with reception at Carr Winery following. As guests entered, the sign-in table was an old-fashioned polaroid camera, where they took photos of themselves and taped them with funky -colored/patterned tape into the guest book and signed in. From shuffle board to admiring the setting and dining on our Parmesan Buffet, guests did not have a lack of fun or deliciousness at this wedding.
