Everyone knows that Santa Barbara is known as the “Riviera” of the United States. And most know that Santa Barbara has its own wine country. But fewer know that Santa Barbara actually has ranchland – from the Santa Ynez Valley surrounded by mountains- to the ranchland by the coast that touches the Pacific Ocean , overlooking our Channel Islands. The great news about any of Santa Barbara’s outdoor locations is the backdrop stands for itself: little decor is necessary. How can you top perfection?
Jamie and Shane’s Santa Barbara wedding utilized all the elements of the natural setting at the ranch with relaxed elegance. Their ceremony location was at Sky Island, aptly named because the only view was that of the sky meeting the ocean with reception at Lone Oak on Orella Ranch.

The Menu: Pre-Ceremony Welcome Beverage Station with Iced Tea, Lemonade and Cucumber Water; Hors d’oeuvres: Imported Domestic and Cheese Display with Fresh Fruit, French Bread and Crackers, Trio of Crostini with Tomato, Mozzarella, Basil, Green & Black Olive Tapenade, White Bean and Rosemary; Ranch Dinner Buffet: Salad: Field Greens with Goat Cheese, Roasted Walnuts and Apricots with Champagne Dressing; Grilled Tri Tip Marinated and Grilled with Corn-Jalapeno Relish and Fresh Mexican Salsa; Halibut with Fresh Tomato and Pepper Confit; Roasted Red Potatoes, Fresh Seasonal Vegetable Medley; Selection of Freshly Baked Artisan Rolls with Butter; Wedding Cake: Vanilla with Fresh Strawberries and Buttercream Frosting.
Special Touches: Fresh sprigs of lavender tucked into each napkin/placesetting; the European style table assignment was an old window pane with table numbers and guests’ names written on it; the bride and groom put little honey jars as wedding favors at the bus stop for guests to take home with them on their way home.
